Spring it Seems

My arms are getting some much needed air time as the wooly knit is discarded. The sun is out, studio windows pried open after months of shutting out the cold. HOORAY!

It has reminded me to post a Spring coloured illustration I recently completed for InnovationRCA. They provide business support and a mentoring program to RCA students for design-led ventures. I was asked to create an illustration which would describe the process of applying and going through the program. A machine / fairground ride was for me, an obvious choice! Was fun to make something quite playful, whilst still getting across the stages of the mentoring program.

Tired of London, Tired of Life

I'm not really. Though, I am already tired of rain.

The following illustrations are a selection from a book I've been working on with designer Lottie Crumbleholme. It's written by Tom Jones (No, not that one) the author of a blog by the same name. It should be out around Christmas time and is published by Virgin Books. It contains all sorts of weird and wonderful things to do in London every day of the year. If you need some inspiration for a rainy day (or one of those rare sunny ones) this is for you!

It's been a while...

...so, here are some dogs. I've not completely lost the plot, these critters have a purpose which shall be fulfilled at the end of the month.

Woof.

Ideas...

Working on a logo illustration today for a Swiss newspaper. I am also, dog sitting for my Dad, so between rained on walks and country air, I'm trying to work on ideas for the illustrations. This one is something I made for a previous brief. It didn't get used in the end, but I still like it anyway!

Drawing commission

I'm always flattered when someone asks me to create a drawing for someone close to them. It is always really difficult to even make a start on it.
This is one of 10 illustrations created for a Swiss friend to give to her mother as a birthday gift. Really hope she will like them!

Bizness

I experimented with the previous posts image to create a pattern for use on my new business cards. I printed the cards on the Risograph printer we have in the studio. (I had no idea what that even was a few weeks ago) Each one is a bit different and sees my little bike character at different points on the cycle journey.

Work in Progress; Cycling in London

I wanted to make a series of illustrations about my second favourite past-time - Cycling. This is a work in progress for hopefully a book or something like that.

Hello new blog

What better way to start off a new studio blog, than with a tour of the place.

Thank you to photographer Ben Mostyn for stopping by for a visit yesterday to film and photograph the goings on. To see the results, visit his new online magazine, "SUPERIMPOSE", which he is creating with Anya Rice to document "the best of South East London". Dead chuffed to be a part of it!
